Why Canstruction Matters

Feeding America Southwest Virginia covers 26 counties, distributing 20 million pounds of nutritious food a year to people in our region confronting hunger—food that reaches about 117,000 of our neighbors each month. The economy might be improving for many of us, but for the working poor, hunger is a daily struggle. Families shouldn't have to choose between paying the electric bill or buying groceries. Feeding America Southwest Virginia not only offers a chance at self‐sufficiency for adults trying to break the cycle of poverty and hunger, our region’s food bank also provides afterschool and summer meals for children, as well as emergency assistance for disaster victims.

About Canstruction

Since 1992, Canstruction events have raised nearly 70 million pounds of food for local hunger relief organizations. Each year, 10,000+ volunteers participate in Canstruction events in over 150 cities around the world.
